"It'll do more than just crawl"

Films: The Hand (1981)

Alias: Jon Lansdale

Type: Unknown, possibly Mystical

Location: Civilized area

Height/Weight: That of an average human hand.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: We tend to keep our hands to ourselves, even during times of high stress and anger. But what happens when the hand isn't restrained by the body anymore?

History: Jon Lansdale was a struggling comic book artist who constantly got into conflicts with his wife and daughter. One bad day, he got his drawing hand ripped off by a truck. This only furthered his downward spiral into unhinged rage 24/7. Even worse, the severed hand seemed to grow a mind of its own and started murdering those that Lansdale didn't like.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: Eventually, Jon and his hand come into conflict, and after the appendage is apparently blown up, he's committed to an asylum for the murders. However, the hand is still very much alive, and Jon seems perfectly okay with joining it in murder.

Powers/Abilities: Super strength.

Weakness: None.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-For the most part, it's ambiguous as to whether Jon's the killer or if there truly is a killer hand on the loose. Based on the ending, there is a hand out there, fast and ready to strangle you.

Trivia: -This is the second feature film of director Oliver Reed, who previously did "Seizure!".

-Other choices for leads were Jon Voight, Dustin Hoffman, and Christopher Walken. In the end, Michael Caine accepted the role.
